In Paris Lotus unveiled five new models headed for production in the next 3-5 years. It is one of the most dramatic showing in the company’s history. Particularly, the company is identifying the presentation and price targets far in advance of reaching the market. In 2009, the company announced it was ready to compete against the major sports car companies like Lamborghini, Ferrari, and Maserati.
The company announced the next generation rear-drive Lotus Esprit will hit the market in next few years 2013. The two-seat, mid-engine supercar will be powered by a 5.0-liter, V8 producing 620 horsepower. Lotus claim the Esprit can accelerate from 0-62 mph in just 3.4 seconds. Top speed is over 205 mph and with a price tag of $174,000.
